Years have passed since one talent show became part of the television. Singing, acting, sports, name it.
Then came these reality shows airing on different networks, local and international.
Even relationships! Love, family, friends...wow! Media has ruled everything for the sake of entertainment.
Since these shows invading our television non-stop...which is which? It kinda give me a hard time classifying each show. Let's focus on talent shows shall we?
What are the famous television blocktimers that is showcasing talents? There are lots of them, in all networks. Some are franchise shows, some are somewhat an original concept (if there is one).
Every time I sit back and try watching a talent show, it always gotten me confused. Was it a talent show or a reality show? Or, was it a community service show?
I have no problem with people using talent shows as their road to success. I actually admire their guts facing all kinds of trials just to be on the actual show. I experienced once auditioning for a talent show and that wasn't a great one. Everyone, except me, auditioned not once but many times. The coordinator even knew them already. I was the fresh face. To cut the story short, I didn't made it! LOL! Like I was saying, it WASN'T easy.
Now, you finally get there...backstage...waiting for your turn. How were you introduced? Most likely, your background. The introduction or maybe the footage of the interview became annoying to me for showcasing the unfortunate life of one talent. Not a big deal, if winners are determined or chosen by the panel of judges of the show. In today's generation, it was different. Winner of the talent show is based on the technology that mass is now embracing. Votes were cast through text messages, internet, etc.
I'm not saying that audience don't know or inexperienced in identifying real talents. There are classifications considered on how judges were chosen during early days of talent shows. For singing contest for example, Ryan Cayabyab, Lea Salonga, Record Company representative...these are the people considered and surely fit to judge a singing contest. Mass, is different. Yes, they can identify a good voice, or a high pitch note even...but it collaborates with the sympathy of how one talented person went to get onstage. Judging should be really focused on talents only, am I right?
I read one tweet one time. It says, peoople should vote based on their talents and not on the state of life of one participant. But, before the day of the final showdown, each finalists' life story where showcased on television, how fate became hard on them, some were victim of abused, abandoned....etc!
I got their point. It's like this "see what I went through to get my dreams a reality!" That's what it is. But in my own opinion, I think, it wasn't the right time showing this people even before casting their vote. Again, SYMPATHY. If I were the finalist, I won't be happy wiining just because of sympathy. It doesn't prove that I did my best or I earned that because I deserved it.
I said, it's wrong-timing...when is the right time then? After announcing the winner, that's what when.
Well...who am I to tell producers of what should they do? I'm nobody. I just happened to be one of the audience who can cast a vote to the finalist I really know who deserves it. And watching their sad story ruins my choice. I guess, that's part of the game plan. To have not only one choice...to vote more than one and more than one contestant. I see that now. Funny, I just realized that now! hahaha! Again...this is just my opinion...and there's nothing you can do about it!
It Is What It IS!
